NIM reports the about president's burial
Maj.-Gen. Abdullahi Muraina (Rtd), the 64-year-old president and chairman of the NIM's council, has passed away, according to the organization.
This information was provided by the institute in a statement that Mr. Jude Iheanacho, acting Registrar, NIM, signed on Saturday in Lagos.
The statement claims that Muraina passed away from a condition in a private hospital in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Muraina, who joined NIM in 2003 as a member and was promoted to the esteemed and highest professional membership grade of fellow in 2011, was said to have served the institution in a variety of capacities at various points in time.
It went on to say that the institute was deeply saddened by his passing, calling it a terrible blow and a depressing commentary.
He was chosen to serve on the institute's council in 2014, and from 2015 to 2017, he presided over the audit committee, according to the statement. He received the institute's presidential award in 2014 for his steadfast support of the institute's programs. He went on to hold the positions of national treasurer and deputy president before being chosen as the 23rd president in 2021.
In addition to being a fellow of NIM, Muraina was also a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, the Certified National Accountants, a member of the Institute of Directors of Nigeria, and a graduate of the esteemed National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru.
He consistently distinguished himself honorably in every task he was given, showing his heritage as a thoroughbred, experienced, and tested competent person and military leader.
The family will make the burial arrangements public. "He would be sadly missed by the institute and it is our prayers that his soul rests in absolute perfect peace."
